Zhongyuan Festival for the salvation of the living and the dead

(Lunar calendar July 14th)

Every Ghost Festival, the Holy Emperor Dongyue Tianqi Rensheng decrees:

This temple conducts rituals such as "offering petitions to eliminate disasters", "relieve ancestors' suffering", "relieve infant spirits", "relieve enemies and creditors", "relieve the ten types of lonely souls", "three soldiers who died in the line of duty", and "general charity". We cordially invite all believers to come and worship and participate in this grand event.

Pray ~ Benefit both the living and the dead, and save the world with good thoughts.

 

The Zhongyuan Festival, also known as "Zanpu" or "Pushi," is a crucial ritual for the benefit of both the living and the dead. The seventh month of the lunar calendar is the month of yin and yang. This temple holds a ceremony to sincerely pray for the souls of the departed and the deceased, praying for peace in the netherworld and safety in the world of the living.

To the underworld: follow the order of “first the general, then the underworld”, first prepare the offerings, then the master will cast a spell to transcend.

For the living world: believers can choose to take the offerings back (within three days), or have the temple donate them to charity organizations on their behalf.

🛕 Dharma Assembly Process

📍 8:30 AM–12:00 PM

Worship and present the chapter

Pay homage to the gods

Enshrine the Kitchen God

Chanting scriptures and performing repentance

Place incense offerings (for ancestors, ancestors of all generations, infant spirits, enemies, creditors, animal spirits, etc.)

Summon lonely souls and change clothes for salvation

Reciting sutras, performing repentance rituals, exchanging repentance petitions, and dedicating merits

In Taoism, it is called "transformation of food". The offerings and gold paper are transformed into infinite spirituality by the chanting of mantras by the master, so that the sentient beings in the netherworld can have enough food and clothing and continue the merits.
